Priced honestly

The promises behind the prices

We price by the number of people using the system, not by what it can do. Three things fall out of that, and they're worth saying out loud.

Every plan does the whole job

Every plan captures waste transfer notes, checks them against the rules, takes signatures on the device, handles the consignment notes that hazardous loads need, and keeps the record for the two years the law requires. The free plan does all of it too. Plans differ by how many people are using the system, never by what it can do, so nothing you’re legally required to do sits behind a higher price.

Unlimited movements, never metered

Your duty of care (the legal duty to keep track of the waste you handle) isn’t something to put on a meter. Every paid plan records as many waste movements as you need, with no per-note charge and no monthly cap to trip over in a busy week. The free plan is the one exception: it stops at ten in a calendar month and starts again on the 1st. You pay for the number of people using the system, not for the notes they write.

Keeping your records is free

Whether you pay us or not, the notes you’ve already captured stay put, and we never charge you to keep them. There’s no storage fee and no charge to read or export a note, however old it gets, and we don’t delete one either. That covers your consignment notes as well as your transfer notes. Waste records have to be kept for two years by law (three for hazardous loads), so withholding them over an unpaid subscription would be the wrong thing to do. The only thing a free plan stops is recording an eleventh movement in the same month.

Pricing questions

What does the free plan give me?
Ten waste movements a calendar month, with one admin login and one crew login. A movement is one load, and it produces one note. Each collection is one movement, so a van doing six pickups in a day records six. A movement counts whether it produces a waste transfer note or a consignment note, so a hazardous load spends one of the ten just as a skip of rubble does. The count starts again on the 1st, and a movement counts against the month you record it in, so entering a load later doesn't get around a spent month. There’s no time limit and no card needed, so you can stay on it for as long as it does the job.
What happens if I use all ten in a month?
You can still read, export, sign and send everything you’ve already recorded. That never stops. What stops is recording a new movement, until the 1st of the next month or until you pick a paid plan, whichever comes first.
What happens to my records if I stop paying?
They stay yours, and they stay free. Drop back to the free plan and you can still read every note you’ve recorded, export the lot, and send one to DEFRA. We don’t delete a waste transfer note or a consignment note, and we don’t bill you for holding on to one. They have to be kept for two years by law, and three for a consignment note, so withholding them over a subscription would be the wrong thing to do.
Do you charge to keep old records?
No, and we don’t plan to. There’s no storage charge and no per-note charge, and nothing starts charging once your archive gets big. You pay for the number of people using the system and nothing else, so a note you recorded three years ago costs you the same as one you recorded this morning, which is nothing.
Is compliance limited on the cheaper plans?
No. Every paid plan records unlimited waste movements and does the whole job, including hazardous waste consignment notes. The plans differ by how many people are using the system, nothing else.
What counts as an office login?
Anyone who works in the office, whether you make them an admin (who can change settings and manage the team) or an office user (who can’t). They share one allowance, so the mix is up to you. Crew logins are counted separately and cost less, because a crew login captures waste transfer notes but can’t send them to DEFRA. The person on your weighbridge and the driver on your round both hold one. Whoever sends the record to DEFRA needs an office login.
I need one more office login, not a whole plan.
You can add single office logins to Standard and Pro at the price shown on the card, so a second director doesn’t mean paying for a tier you don’t need.
What about the DEFRA charge?
DEFRA charges £26 a year per company for access to the Digital Waste Tracking service, paid directly to DEFRA. That is separate from your CarrierNote subscription, and you start paying it once Digital Waste Tracking is mandatory for your business. For a permitted receiving site that is October 2026 in England and Wales, and January 2027 in Scotland and Northern Ireland. For carriers, brokers, and dealers it is October 2027.
Can I pay yearly?
Yes, on any paid plan. A year costs 10 months instead of 12. Use the Monthly and Yearly buttons above the plans to see what each one comes to. You can start monthly and move to yearly later, or the other way round.
Do prices include VAT?
Every price we publish is set without VAT. VAT is added on top at the rate that applies when we bill you, and you’ll see the exact amount before you pay. The buttons above the plans show either figure, so you don’t have to work it out yourself.
Can I claim the VAT back?
Yes, if your business is VAT registered. So are we, and our VAT number is GB528618468. Every receipt shows the VAT as its own line.
Is the mobile app extra?
No. The mobile app is free on every plan, including Pilot, and there’s nothing to download from an app store. How to install the mobile app.
Can I change plan later?
Yes, up or down, whenever you like. Your data carries across either way.

Not sure which plan fits?

Start on the free plan and use it on your next few loads, collected or received. You can move up a plan whenever you need to, and your records come with you.
